About Liposuction in San Diego

Before liposuction surgery begins, San Diego Plastic Surgeon Tom Pousti, M.D., will mark the areas to be shaped with liposuction while you are standing. In every surgery Dr. Pousti performs safety is a priority; careful attention is paid to your vital signs and the volume of fatty tissue removed.

Your liposuction procedure will last from 1 to 3 hours, depending upon the number of areas to be treated with liposuction and the volume of tissue to be removed. Liposuction is generally performed in an outpatient operating suite. Incisions for the procedure are generally one quarter inch in length and are placed in inconspicuous skin folds with minimal or no shaving of hair. All sutures are closed carefully.

After your surgery you will wear a compressive garment over the areas treated with liposuction for 3 to 4 weeks.
